En mi constante búsqueda del sonido más pesado y violento del planeta, siempre he tenido a NecroticGoreBeast en un pedestal. Esta banda canadiense, conocida por su implacable brutalidad, ha regresado con un recordatorio oportuno y devastador: el EP «Brute». Aunque solo tiene cinco pistas, este trabajo es una losa de solidez y horror que me ha dejado sin aliento, incluso para los estándares ya altísimos de la banda.
El EP comienza de manera engañosamente tranquila con una intro electrónica de la pista principal que evoca recuerdos de viejas películas de terror. Pero la calma es efímera. «Assault of Severed Genitalia» explota con un peso inconmensurable, como una bestia herida arrastrándose sobre cristales rotos. Los riffs son agonizantes y aplastantes, construyendo una presión que te hace sentir que tu cuerpo va a estallar. Esto me reafirmó una idea clave: la brutalidad no se mide solo por la velocidad, sino por la capacidad de aniquilación.
A lo largo de todo el EP, la voz de John Mayer es un pilar de la bestialidad. Su actuación es de las mejores que he escuchado en el brutal death metal, con una barbarie que es impresionante en pistas como «Sensual Regurgitation» y «Maggot Filled Colonoscopy». El equilibrio perfecto entre la brutalidad y el groove es evidente en todo el álbum. Hay explosiones de violencia, partes densas de mosh y una fluidez que me pareció perfecta para el género. La banda demuestra una efectividad y una consistencia que me hace entender por qué son tan aclamados.
El EP cierra con «Knuckle Deep Convulsions», que cuenta con la impresionante voz de Chaney Crabb (Entheos). Es una pista desagradable, llena de malas intenciones, una masa hirviente de malignidad que yuxtapone una perversidad arrastrada con una agresión desenfrenada. La colaboración vocal entre Mayer y Crabb es absolutamente infernal. Es un final brutal que me dejó con ganas de más, que es la única «debilidad» de un EP tan corto.
Producido por Christopher Rannou-Poulin y con la mezcla y masterización a cargo de Miguel Tereso de Demigod Recordings (quien también ha trabajado en sus tres álbumes anteriores), el sonido de «Brute» es el más pesado que han logrado. Cada riff feo y hermoso a la vez recibe la máxima potencia. Y el arte de Andreas Christanetoff es la cereza del pastel, una obra macabra que complementa la música a la perfección.
En resumen, NecroticGoreBeast ha demostrado una vez más por qué son intocables en su campo. «Brute»es una sobredosis aplastante y atormentadora de perversidad que cumple con creces lo que promete. Si eres fan de Cannibal Corpse, Devourment o Skinless, tus días en la luz están contados.

In my constant search for the heaviest and most violent sound on the planet, I have always held NecroticGoreBeast on a pedestal. This Canadian band, known for its relentless brutality, has returned with a timely and devastating reminder: the EP «Brute» Although it only has five tracks, this work is a slab of solidity and horror that has left me breathless, even for the band’s already sky-high standards.
The EP begins in a deceptively calm way with an electronic intro to the title track that evokes memories of old horror movies. But the calm is short-lived. «Assault of Severed Genitalia» explodes with immeasurable weight, like a wounded beast dragging itself over broken glass. The riffs are agonizing and crushing, building a pressure that makes you feel like your body is going to burst. This reaffirmed a key idea for me: brutality is not measured only by speed, but by the capacity for annihilation.
Throughout the entire EP, John Mayer‘s voice is a pillar of bestiality. His performance is one of the best I have heard in brutal death metal, with a barbarity that is impressive on tracks like «Sensual Regurgitation» and «Maggot Filled Colonoscopy». The perfect balance between brutality and groove is evident throughout the album. There are explosions of violence, dense mosh parts, and a fluidity that I found perfect for the genre. The band demonstrates an effectiveness and consistency that makes me understand why they are so acclaimed.
The EP closes with «Knuckle Deep Convulsions» which features the impressive voice of Chaney Crabb(Entheos). It’s a nasty track, full of bad intentions, a seething mass of malignancy that juxtaposes a creeping perversity with rampant aggression. The vocal collaboration between Mayer and Crabb is absolutely infernal. It is a brutal ending that left me wanting more, which is the only «weakness» of such a short EP.
Produced by Christopher Rannou-Poulin and with mixing and mastering by Miguel Tereso of Demigod Recordings (who has also worked on their three previous albums), the sound of «Brute» is the heaviest they have achieved. Each ugly and beautiful-at-the-same-time riff receives maximum power. And the art by Andreas Christanetoff is the cherry on top, a macabre work that complements the music perfectly.
In short, NecroticGoreBeast has once again shown why they are untouchable in their field. «Brute» is a crushing and tormenting overdose of perversity that more than delivers on its promise. If you are a fan of Cannibal Corpse, Devourment, or Skinless, your days in the light are numbered.
