Hay bandas que, con cada paso, demuestran una evolución notable. Y Argesk, la banda de black metal británico, es una de ellas. Con su álbum debut, «Realm Of Eternal Night», ya habían dejado una impresión emocionante. Ahora, con su segundo trabajo, «Moonlight Pyromancy», me queda claro que no solo han progresado, sino que han alcanzado un nuevo nivel de maestría. Este disco es una obra más rica, más completa y mucho más lograda que su predecesor. Me sentí atraído por su atmósfera desde el primer momento, como si la banda me estuviera invitando a un mundo de belleza sin muerte, invocada por la piromancia a la luz de la luna.
El álbum se abre con «Invocation», una pieza instrumental corta pero efectiva que actúa como una puerta de entrada al país crepuscular. Desde allí, Argesk me envuelve con alas oscuras de ambiente nocturno. En «Accursed Victory», una nueva maestría de la melodía sale a la luz. El trabajo de guitarra emotivo me atrajo a una épica de tragedia y drama, un himno que me hizo sentir como si estuviera celebrando una victoria en la batalla. Pero la banda no se detiene ahí. «Black Castle Waltz» es un baile majestuoso de esplendor vampírico, donde cada instrumento se entrelaza para construir una mitología propia.
En el corazón del álbum, me encontré con «Wreathing Serpent», una canción formidable que se construye lentamente antes de estallar. Esta pista resalta el equilibrio perfecto del sonido de Argesk. Now, with their second work, «Moonlight Pyromancy» it is clear to me that they have not only progressed, but have reached a new level of mastery. This record is a richer, more complete, and much more accomplished work than its predecessor. I felt drawn to its atmosphere from the first moment, as if the band were inviting me into a world of deathless beauty, invoked by pyromancy by moonlight.
The album opens with «Invocation» a short but effective instrumental piece that acts as a gateway to the twilight country. From there, Argesk envelops me with dark wings of nocturnal ambiance. In «Accursed Victory» a newfound mastery of melody comes to light. The emotional guitar work drew me into an epic of tragedy and drama, an anthem that made me feel as if I were celebrating a victory in battle. But the band doesn’t stop there. «Black Castle Waltz» is a majestic dance of vampiric splendor, where each instrument intertwines to build a mythology of its own.
In the heart of the album, I found «Wreathing Serpent» a formidable song that builds slowly before exploding. This track highlights the perfect balance of the Argesk sound. Despite the beguiling melodies, the band never allows sweetness to overpower the bitter hemlock of their black metal. Everything is steeped in devastation, bloodlust, and gothic magic.
