Mayhem, la legendaria y más intransigente banda del Black Metal noruego, ha anunciado el lanzamiento de su séptimo álbum de estudio, «Liturgy Of Death». El disco será publicado el 6 de febrero de 2026 por Century Media Records en formatos CD y vinilo.
Como primer adelanto, la banda ha desvelado el sencillo «Despair», acompañado de un video creado por Johan Bååth.
«Despair» aborda la muerte no como un final, sino como una fuerza inevitable que une toda la vida y expone la fragilidad de la existencia humana. La banda describe la canción como la revelación más cruda del álbum: «el momento en el que la muerte no se teme, sino que se comprende. Su impermanencia se convierte en una llamada a vivir con plena intensidad».
Tras cuatro décadas de trayectoria marcada por el caos y el exceso, Mayhem (conformado por Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Attila, Teloch y Ghul) ha alcanzado una nueva cumbre creativa con «Liturgy Of Death». El álbum se presenta como una meditación aplastante sobre la muerte en todas sus formas: existencial, espiritual y definitiva, siendo más rápido, violento y oscuro que cualquier trabajo anterior.
«Liturgy Of Death» ha sido producido por Tore Stjerna y la propia banda. Stjerna también se encargó de la ingeniería y mezcla, mientras que la masterización corrió a cargo de Thomas Johansson.

Mayhem, the legendary and most uncompromising band of Norwegian Black Metal, has announced the release of their seventh studio album, «Liturgy Of Death». The record will be published on February 6, 2026, by Century Media Records in CD and vinyl formats.
As the first preview, the band has unveiled the single «Despair», accompanied by a video created by Johan Bååth.
«Despair» addresses death not as an end, but as an inevitable force that unites all life and exposes the fragility of human existence. The band describes the song as the album’s rawest revelation: «the moment when death is not feared, but understood. Its impermanence becomes a call to live with full intensity».
After four decades of career marked by chaos and excess, Mayhem (comprising Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Attila, Teloch, and Ghul) has reached a new creative peak with «Liturgy Of Death». The album is presented as a crushing meditation on death in all its forms: existential, spiritual, and definitive, being faster, more violent, and darker than any previous work.
«Liturgy Of Death» was produced by Tore Stjerna and the band itself. Stjerna was also responsible for engineering and mixing, while mastering was handled by Thomas Johansson.
