La banda de metal extremo radicado en Montreal, Conflux Collective, ha confirmado la llegada de su primer larga duración, «In the Wake of Saturn», que estará disponible en todas las plataformas digitales el próximo 19 de junio de 2026. Este lanzamiento marca la resurrección de un proyecto que estuvo años en pausa, reconstruido desde cero por el baterista, compositor y productor Tommy McKinnon (conocido por su trayectoria en bandas como Derelict, Akurion, Neuraxis y Augury).
Como adelanto, la banda ha presentado su segundo sencillo, «Devouring Light», que sigue al tema debut «Reincarnation». Según McKinnon, este nuevo corte explora el lado más oscuro, pausado y cargado de groove del proyecto.
«Es una canción profunda con múltiples matices… El dominio de la guitarra de Chase Fraser brilla en todo momento, culminando en un solo magistral. La génesis de Conflux Collective es casi cinematográfica: nació de un encuentro fortuito entre McKinnon y el guitarrista Chase Fraser (Continuum, ex-Decrepit Birth) en un local de comida rápida tras un concierto de King Diamond en Montreal. Esa chispa creativa permitió escribir su EP debut, «The Inception» (2016), en apenas seis semanas. Tras años de inactividad, McKinnon revivió el proyecto con un enfoque de producción totalmente autodidacta, lo que incluso le llevó a grabar el bajo por primera vez, obligándolo a desarrollar una nueva perspectiva creativa: «Tuve que usar mis oídos y pensar fuera de lo convencional».
A lo largo de sus ocho temas, «In the Wake of Saturn» propone un viaje a través de la transformación y el renacimiento, fusionando la ferocidad del death metal de los años 90 con la precisión del tech-death contemporáneo.

The Montreal-based extreme metal project Conflux Collective has confirmed the arrival of their first full-length album, «In the Wake of Saturn», which will be available on all digital platforms this coming June 19, 2026. This release marks the resurrection of a project that was on hiatus for years, rebuilt from scratch by drummer, songwriter, and producer Tommy McKinnon (known for his career in bands such as Derelict, Akurion, Neuraxis, and Augury).
As a preview, the band has presented their second single, «Devouring Light», which follows the debut track «Reincarnation». According to McKinnon, this new cut explores the project’s darker, slower, and more groove-laden side.
«It’s a deep song with multiple nuances… Chase Fraser’s guitar mastery shines throughout, culminating in a masterful solo. It’s a piece with hints of doom, a handcrafted swirl of heavy riffs and open chords. The lyrics deal with witnessing an ecological disaster of epic proportions,» McKinnon explains.
The genesis of Conflux Collective is almost cinematic: it was born from a chance encounter between McKinnon and guitarist Chase Fraser (Continuum, ex-Decrepit Birth) at a fast-food joint after a King Diamond concert in Montreal. That creative spark allowed them to write their debut EP, «The Inception»(2016), in just six weeks. After years of inactivity, McKinnon revived the project with a completely self-taught production approach, which even led him to record the bass for the first time, forcing him to develop a new creative perspective: «I had to use my ears and think outside the box.»
Across its eight tracks, «In the Wake of Saturn» proposes a journey through transformation and rebirth, fusing the ferocity of ’90s death metal with the precision of contemporary tech-death.
«In the Wake of Saturn» positions itself as an essential work for followers of bands like Cryptopsy, Necrophagist, Decrepit Birth, Augury, and Beyond Creation. Although the project has no plans for live performances, the album stands as a testament to creative collaboration without barriers.
