El proyecto polaco de atmospheric black metal y epic doom, Divine Sovereign, ha confirmado la llegada de su nuevo álbum de estudio, «Autaxia Chronicles: A House Divided», que verá la luz a través del sello Wormholedeath. Como adelanto, la banda ha puesto a disposición del público el sencillo «Heresy», disponible ya en formato de audiostream.
Este trabajo representa la segunda entrega de la saga Autaxia Chronicles, dando continuidad a la narrativa iniciada en 2025 con «Dawn of a New Age». Mientras que el primer álbum exploraba el fanatismo religioso como una fuerza unificadora frente a la opresión, esta nueva entrega adopta un enfoque opuesto: el análisis de cómo las mismas creencias pueden fracturar a una sociedad desde sus cimientos.
La trama se sitúa tras la conclusión de la guerra de independencia en el universo de Autaxia. Con la población en control de su propio mundo, el declive de sus habilidades psiónicas provoca una crisis desesperada. El rey y sus sacerdotes, en su búsqueda obsesiva de la inmortalidad, recurren a rituales cada vez más brutales, reflejando así la realidad histórica de los cismas y conflictos doctrinales que han definido a las grandes religiones a lo largo de los siglos.
En el plano sonoro, Divine Sovereign mantiene su compromiso con la épica y la atmósfera. La música del proyecto se inspira en la tradición del metal atmosférico y épico, evocando la sensibilidad compositiva de bandas como Ethereal Shroud, Panopticon, Gallowbraid y Atlantean Kodex.
El álbum se estructura a través de temas de larga duración, concebidos meticulosamente para soportar el peso narrativo de su historia, ofreciendo una experiencia envolvente que equilibra la agresividad del black metal con la pesadez y solemnidad del doom.
The Polish atmospheric black metal and epic doom project, Divine Sovereign, has confirmed the arrival of their new studio album, «Autaxia Chronicles: A House Divided», which will be released through the Wormholedeath label. As a preview, the band has made the single «Heresy» available to the public, currently out in audiostream format.
This work represents the second installment of the Autaxia Chronicles saga, continuing the narrative initiated in 2025 with «Dawn of a New Age». While the first album explored religious fanaticism as a unifying force against oppression, this new installment takes the opposite approach: analyzing how those very same beliefs can fracture a society from its foundations.
The plot is set following the conclusion of the war of independence in the Autaxia universe. With the population in control of their own world, the decline of their psionic abilities triggers a desperate crisis. The king and his priests, in their obsessive pursuit of immortality, resort to increasingly brutal rituals—thus reflecting the historical reality of the schisms and doctrinal conflicts that have defined major religions throughout the centuries.
On a sonic level, Divine Sovereign maintains its commitment to epic scale and atmosphere. The project’s music draws inspiration from the tradition of atmospheric and epic metal, evoking the songwriting sensibilities of bands like Ethereal Shroud, Panopticon, Gallowbraid, and Atlantean Kodex.
The album is structured around long-form tracks, meticulously conceived to carry the narrative weight of its story, offering an immersive experience that balances the aggressiveness of black metal with the heaviness and solemnity of doom.
