Los veteranos del black metal melódico noruego Iskald han dado el pistoletazo de salida hacia el abismo con el estreno de “The Other Realm”, el primer y único single completo extraído de su inminente sexto álbum de estudio, «Curse of the Mind». Este esperado trabajo verá la luz el próximo 25 de septiembre de 2026 a través del sello Dusktone, marcando el debut de la banda con la discográfica tras su fichaje a principios de año y sucediendo al aclamado «Innhøstinga» (2018).
Tras un par de adelantos en forma de teasers, “The Other Realm” abre de par en par las puertas del concepto que vertebra el disco. El frontman Aage Krekling define el tema como la primera piedra de una narrativa conceptual estructurada en cuatro movimientos: «Es el Capítulo I, El Descenso. Es ese momento de realización en el que comprendes que ya estás en Helheim. No muerto, sino vacío. La inmensidad, el frío, el aislamiento… ese paisaje austero de inspiración nórdica no es fantasía para nosotros, es la forma que adopta la oscuridad interior».
Musicalmente, el corte fusiona la intensidad de los blast beats con melancólicas y frágiles melodías, mostrando la pegada de la formación por primera vez reconvertida en un sólido quinteto. El álbum fue grabado durante el verano de 2025 en los Strand Studio de Beiarn, bajo la mezcla y masterización de Hallstein Sandvin y con un envoltorio visual firmado por SG7 Graphics.
Con más de dos décadas de trayectoria a sus espaldas desde su fundación en 2005 en Sortland por Simon Larsen y Aage Krekling, Iskald plantea su obra más ambiciosa hasta la fecha como un viaje psicológico dividido en cuatro movimientos entrelazados por invocaciones rituales:

II. Manifestation of Madness – The Prison: Duda, fragmentación y colapso psicológico.

Norwegian melodic black metal veterans Iskald have fired the starting gun toward the abyss with the premiere of “The Other Realm”, the first and only full single taken from their imminent sixth studio album, «Curse of the Mind». This long-awaited work will see the light of day on September 25, 2026, via Dusktone, marking the band’s label debut following their signing earlier this year and succeeding the acclaimed Innhøstinga (2018).
Following a pair of teaser previews, “The Other Realm” flings open the gates to the concept underpinning the record. Frontman Aage Krekling defines the track as the cornerstone of a conceptual narrative structured in four movements: «It is Chapter I, The Descent. It’s that realization moment when you comprehend you are already in Helheim. Not dead, but empty. The vastness, the cold, the isolation… that austere, Nordic-inspired landscape isn’t fantasy to us—it is the shape inner darkness takes.»
Musically, the track fuses the intensity of blast beats with melancholic, fragile melodies, showcasing the firepower of the lineup now expanded into a formidable quintet. The album was recorded during the summer of 2025 at Strand Studio in Beiarn, mixed and mastered by Hallstein Sandvin, and wrapped in a visual aesthetic crafted by SG7 Graphics.
