«Perfecth»: breaking apart and putting the pieces back together
Queens of the Stone Age’s new album, Perfecth, was produced by Josh Homme and Michael Shuman and represents another creative chapter for the band. Its central concept draws inspiration from kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, highlighting rather than concealing its cracks. The philosophy suggests that something broken can become even more beautiful through the process of reconstruction.
The album features nine songs exploring different forms of love: family, friendship and the connections we establish with other people, whether significant or seemingly insignificant. It also addresses relationships that push us beyond our limits and the experiences that allow us to rebuild ourselves afterwards.
Recorded during sessions in locations ranging from New Orleans to Los Angeles, the album moves through contrasting musical and emotional territories, combining darkness, menace, delicacy and experimentation.
«Every song sounds like it’s from a different world», explains Josh Homme. This approach is intentional, reflecting the band’s attempt to bring together different emotions surrounding love, lust, folly and the kind of wisdom that can emerge from those experiences.
With Perfecth, Queens of the Stone Age continue exploring new creative territories while retaining the distinctive musical identity that has defined their career. Bilbao and Seville will be two of the stops on this new live chapter.
