La banda Thrakian, originaria de Bulgaria y actualmente establecida en Gales, ha anunciado el lanzamiento de su álbum debut, «The Way», programado para el próximo 24 de junio bajo el sello Aonair Records. Esta obra se perfila como una propuesta que fusiona una pesadez densa y atmosférica con una narrativa profunda, centrada en temas como el desplazamiento geográfico, la búsqueda de la identidad y la filosofía antigua.
La formación cuenta con una base de experiencia técnica y compositiva considerable, dado que sus integrantes, el frontman Atanas (guitarra y voz) y Matt Strangis (bajo), forman parte de la aclamada banda de doom metal Pantheist. Esta trayectoria aporta a Thrakian una madurez sonora y una capacidad para construir paisajes auditivos expansivos que destacan en el panorama del sludge metal actual.

The Bulgarian band Thrakian, currently based in Wales, has announced the release of their debut album, «The Way», scheduled for this coming June 24 under the label Aonair Records. This work shapes up to be a musical vision that fuses a dense, atmospheric heaviness with a deep narrative, centering on themes such as geographical displacement, the search for identity, and ancient philosophy.
The lineup boasts a considerable foundation of technical and songwriting experience, given that its members, frontman Atanas (guitars and vocals) and Matt Strangis (bass), are part of the acclaimed doom metal band Pantheist. This background provides Thrakian with a sonic maturity and an ability to construct expansive soundscapes that stand out in today’s sludge metal landscape.
«The Way» is the result of a creative process marked by personal turmoil and the complex journey that comes with reconstructing one’s identity when settling in a new land. Far from being a conventional album, the record draws from ancestral philosophy to explore the internal struggles stemming from displacement, transforming trauma and introspection into an immersive sonic experience.
To achieve the required sonic atmosphere, the album was recorded between Longwave and Woodcroft Audio studios under the technical direction of Tim Vincent.
