La agrupación bogotana Somberspawn, referente indiscutible del blackened death metal técnico en la región, ha roto el silencio con el lanzamiento mundial de su nuevo videoclip animado para el tema «Legacy of Pain». Esta pieza audiovisual, que expande la densidad sonora de su aclamado álbum «Invocate», propone una estética disruptiva al integrar la nostalgia de los videojuegos clásicos de 8 bits con una atmósfera de hostilidad biomecánica y nihilismo absoluto.
El videoclip fue desarrollado por la firma Sharpball, liderada por los hermanos Jiménez, quienes han logrado fusionar con éxito la crudeza del metal extremo con el arte pixel art de los años 80 y 90. El metraje articula una cartografía de la extinción estructurada en cinco niveles de degradación sistemática, donde parásitos industriales y aberraciones clínicas actúan como verdugos. Más que un ejercicio de nostalgia, el vídeo funciona como una extensión conceptual de la mitología de Somberspawn, transformando sus riffs cortantes en una experiencia visual que refleja el colapso de la carne y el derrumbe de falsas deidades.
Con esta producción, la banda no solo reafirma su identidad sonora, sino que eleva el estándar técnico del metal hecho en Bogotá, demostrando una capacidad competitiva equiparable a los estándares internacionales del género.

This audiovisual piece, which expands the sonic density of their acclaimed album «Invocate», puts forward a disruptive aesthetic by integrating the nostalgia of classic 8-bit video games with an atmosphere of biomechanical hostility and absolute nihilism.
The music video was developed by the firm Sharpball, led by the Jiménez brothers, who have successfully fused the rawness of extreme metal with 1980s and ’90s pixel art. The footage maps out a cartography of extinction structured across five levels of systematic degradation, where industrial parasites and clinical aberrations act as executioners. Rather than a mere exercise in nostalgia, the video functions as a conceptual extension of Somberspawn’s lore, transforming their sharp riffs into a visual experience that reflects the collapse of flesh and the downfall of false deities.
