The undisputed legends of the NWOBHM, Saxon, hit the heavy metal scene with double the force. The British line-up has been confirmed as one of the dazzling headliners for the upcoming edition of the Leyendas del Rock festival, a milestone that will coincide with the release of their new studio album, «Gods of Thunder», scheduled to see the light of day on January 22, 2027, via Silver Lining Music. As a preview of this new onslaught, the band has premiered «Medusa», their second advance single, accompanied by the launch of the album’s official pre-order.

Inspired by the fearsome Gorgon of Greek mythology, whose eye contact petrified mortals, «Medusa» bursts forth with an architecture of incisive riffs and the classic power of traditional heavy metal. Led by the unmistakable and timeless vocal range of Biff Byford, Saxon revives the classic myth under a sonic blast that strikes like divine lightning.

«A step into the world of Greek mythology with ‘Medusa’, a goddess who could turn you to stone just by looking at you! Epic metal, an epic story! Enjoy,» enthusiastically declares Biff Byford himself.

The cover art for the single was created by acclaimed artist Peter Sallai. To commemorate the release, the band has launched a contest to win a signed guitar featuring single-themed artwork, alongside an exclusive line of official merchandise available through their usual channels.

The album «Gods of Thunder» was produced by Biff Byford himself and mixed by the renowned Andy Sneap(guitarist for Judas Priest and producer for benchmark acts such as Exodus and Accept). The record promises to capture the band at the pinnacle of their powers: a thundering rhythm section, incandescent guitars, and a meticulous narrative that synthesizes the past, present, and future of British metal.

The release will be supported by the «Gods of Thunder» – World Tour 2027:

  • Special Guests in the UK and Ireland: Los Angeles heavy metal veterans Armored Saint will accompany the Brits on their leg through the British Isles.

  • ‘Castles & Eagles’ Production in Europe: On selected dates such as Brussels, Zurich, Cologne, and Tilburg,Saxon will deploy their iconic stage setup featuring the steel eagle—nine meters wide with a twelve-meter wingspan—equipped with landing lights and massive lighting effects.

«We are taking the ‘Gods of Thunder’ tour to Europe, it’s going to be amazing! I can’t wait to open the skies and unleash the metal,» concludes Byford.

«Gods of Thunder» will be available in multiple vinyl variants, CD, exclusive bundles, and digital formats. Tickets and album pre-orders are now active on the band’s official website.
