Marea anticipa su esperado nuevo disco con el desgarrador single «The Beauty of Broken Things»

(English Below)

Italian atmospheric black metal project Marea, spearheaded by visionary Matteo Balzarini, has revealed “The Beauty of Broken Things”, the second single taken from their upcoming full-length album titled «A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost». The record is set for release on October 9, 2026, through a joint effort between Hypnotic Dirge Records and Masked Dead Records. The track is accompanied by an official music video, now available across digital platforms, plunging the listener into the melancholic and complex sonic evolution of the project.

Unlike their debut album -where the closing title track condensed the record’s entire concept- “The Beauty of Broken Things” functions as the opening track (following a brief acoustic intro) and immediately lays bare the entire sonic palette structuring this new chapter. The composition stands out for a fierce dynamism that reclaims a more traditional black metal edge via frantic blast beats and incisive tremolo picking, intertwined with the project’s signature atmospheric textures and melancholic melodies.

Matteo Balzarini himself reflects on the significance of this release:

«It is by far the most complex and layered song in our discography. It unequivocally represents the essence of Marea‘s new incarnation. It features lyrical sections in Italian, a tempo that approaches traditional black metal compared to our past mid-tempos, and a three-minute closing sequence featuring a guitar solo highly unconventional for the genre. Conceptually, it channels the album’s core themes: a journey into introspection and regret, painted in the colors of October sunsets.»

«A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost» was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Carlo Meroni at ADSR Decibel Studio, while the visual identity and cover art were executed by renowned designer Francesco Gemelli.

Navigating the waters between atmospheric black metal and post-depressive black metal, the new material intentionally side-steps predictable dynamics and soft-chorus/heavy-verse tropes. The compositions unfold through organic progressions and nuanced melodies that evoke the nostalgic elegance of Italian metal benchmarks like Novembre.

While previous releases used the sea to anchor the project’s visual and lyrical imagery, «A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost» elevates autumn as its central metaphor. The lyrics delve into solitude, isolation, self-destructive pride, and the fragility of human connection.

Yet, far from collapsing into absolute nihilism, the work strives to convey a ultimate message of compassion and redemption. The album’s title stands as an embrace directed toward those who feel lost—an invitation to reconcile with one’s own flaws and uncover beauty amid the fracture.
