(English Below)

  • Casete

Irish death metal outfit Leadbelcher is preparing to unleash one of the most sickened and highly anticipated releases in the European underground. The Dublin-based band has laid the groundwork for the imminent arrival of their debut full-length, «Heaven’s Bloated Corpse», and to stoke the fires, they have delivered a crushing blow. Through a music video as defiant as it is repulsive for the track «Immured In Holy Excrement», the group offers a final, somber warning of the carnage ahead.

Far from resorting to cheap or empty shock tactics, Leadbelcher‘s conceptual framework digs deep into the darkest layers of the human psyche. Vocalist and frontman Matthew Simpson unraveled the philosophical and lyrical foundation underpinning this display of brutality:

«“Immured In Holy Excrement” metaphorically charts the parallels between suffering and transcendence be it the mental anguish experienced through grief, depression, and loss, or physical torment, whether self-inflicted, dealt as punishment, or endured through illness. An easy life grants no perspective; those who have never starved do not know hunger, and scars are the proof that pain was endured. Life is an endless wound for those who persevere».

To bring such torment to life both sonically and visually, the band enlisted director Raymond Keenaghan (of Visual Decay). The directive left no room for doubt: create a piece that is thoroughly rancid and bordering on unwatchable.

To achieve this, Keenaghan drew from cult cinema and macabre references:

«The band wanted me to create something utterly rancid, bordering on unwatchable: twisted masses of flesh, decay, chunks of meat, and body horror. I had been wanting to use footage from the 1973 Spanish horror film La campana del infierno (The Bell from Hell) in a metal video for some time, and this track felt like the perfect opportunity. The film has a strange, decaying atmosphere, with its slaughterhouse imagery and nightmare-inducing sense of unease. I edited some of the darkest, most disturbing sequences, selecting moments that seemed to echo the lyrics and the overall feel of the music. The killer appears to unravel further as the video progresses. I then layered the footage with additional imagery of blood, offal, and real anatomical dissections, creating something that feels like a fragmented, grotesque nightmare a reflection of the song’s themes of physical transformation, terror, and the loss of one’s own form.»

«Heaven’s Bloated Corpse» will see its official release on October 16, 2026, through Apocalyptic Witchcraft. The album will be available in collector-grade physical formats, including:

  • Limited Edition 10″ Vinyl

  • Digipack CD
