Norwegian technical death metal band Celestial Scourge is back with «Spherical Aberrations», an unrelenting new single featuring a special guest appearance by Devin Swank, vocalist for US brutal death metal kings Sanguisugabogg. The track serves as the brand-new preview of their highly anticipated second studio album, titled «Exomia», set for release on November 20, 2026, via Italian label Time To Kill Records.
With this track, the Nordic outfit weaves their signature razor-sharp arrangements and ultra-heavy riffs with an extra dose of vocal ferocity, consolidating a dark, oppressive sci-fi thematic framework that promises to push their sound to even denser and more devastating heights.
«Spherical Aberrations» holds nothing back. The band demonstrates absolute technical mastery over complex time signatures and frantic blast beats, culminating in a brutal breakdown designed to unleash total chaos in the mosh pit.
Speaking about the release, the band commented on the track:
«‘Spherical Aberrations’ is without a doubt one of our favorite songs to play to date, even before having had the chance to fully deliver it on stage. It brings riff after riff and holds nothing back. To top it off, we have Devin Swank from Sanguisugabogg delivering some ridiculously brutal vocals on the breakdown. It’s a complete banger, and we look forward to seeing you lose your minds in the circle pit when we bring it live.»
With «Exomia», Celestial Scourge sharpens and refines the formula laid down in their debut, «Observers of the Inevitable». On this record, the band prioritizes the direct impact of each composition, balancing technical complexity with dynamic structures and a much more memorable, sharp guitar approach without losing an ounce of heaviness.
Conceptually, the album delves deeper into the dystopian sci-fi narrative that defines the band:
«‘Exomia’ is the continuation of the story from our first album, but this time it is much denser and darker. We follow the evacuation of human beings from Earth to their new home, a planet that from a distance appears deserted and empty… something that proves to be very far from reality the moment they step foot on it.»
Founded in 2021 by bassist Stian Gundersen, Celestial Scourge quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the most solid promises in the Norwegian extreme underground. The band features musicians seasoned in illustrious scene names such as Blood Red Throne, Deception, Ruun, Vorbid, and Todesking.
Drawing from legendary influences like Suffocation, Deeds of Flesh, The Faceless, The Zenith Passage, and Cattle Decapitation, the quintet fuses the raw physical power of classic brutal death metal with a modern, avant-garde atmospheric vision. «Exomia» promises to be the release that definitively seals their status on the international stage.
