Desde las heladas llanuras de Lloydminster, en Canadá, el grupo de doom/sludge Destroy My Brains se prepara para dar el golpe definitivo a su trayectoria. El próximo 14 de agosto de 2026, la banda lanzará al mercado «Wilt», el capítulo final y catastrófico de su ambiciosa saga de cinco álbumes planificada milimétricamente desde el primer día.
Todo comenzó con «Worthless» en 2018, seguido por «InsignifiCan’t» e «Insignifiless» -lanzados ambos en 2020-, y «Tormented» en 2022. Ahora, con «Wilt», cierran un arco conceptual concebido desde el origen. Como revela el vocalista y guitarrista Jarret: «Ya elegimos los títulos de los álbumes para que todas las primeras letras deletrearan «Wilt».
Lejos de buscar fórmulas comerciales, Destroy My Brains entrega una dosis de sludge abrasivo, fangoso y con una devoción absoluta por el sonido pesado al estilo Crowbar. «Wilt» pisa el acelerador de la miseria con riffs colosales capaces de doblar acero, una base rítmica demoledora y unas voces que reducen todo a cenizas.
En lugar de reinventar la rueda, el cuarteto ha afilado su propuesta. Cada integrante ha vertido sus propias tinieblas en el estudio para convertir la grabación en un colapso colectivo. Jarret profundiza como nunca, transformando el álbum en una paliza sonora y un exorcismo personal:
«No reinventamos nada. Afilamos, endurecimos, subimos el volumen… y escribimos algunas de las letras más oscuras y significativas que hemos hecho. Buceé en un lugar de odio y dolor furioso: traumas autoinfligidos y hacia otros, autodestrucción, adicciones y el odio que conduce a la ruina».
Actualmente, la banda mantiene activos los sencillos «OCI (Obsessive Compulsive Imploder)» y «Decontribute«, mientras preparan el estreno de un videoclip para «Downgrade» de cara al lanzamiento oficial del álbum.
From the icy plains of Lloydminster, Canada, the doom/sludge group Destroy My Brains is preparing to deal the definitive blow to their career. On August 14, 2026, the band will release «Wilt», the final and catastrophic chapter of their ambitious five-album saga, meticulously planned from day one.
It all began with «Worthless» in 2018, followed by «InsignifiCan’t» and «Insignifiless» -both released in 2020- and «Tormented» in 2022. Now, with «Wilt», they close a conceptual arc conceived from the very beginning. As vocalist and guitarist Jarret reveals: «We actually picked the album titles so that all the first letters would spell out ‘Wilt'».
Far from seeking commercial formulas, Destroy My Brains delivers a dose of abrasive, muddy sludge with an absolute devotion to heavy sound in the style of Crowbar. «Wilt» steps on the accelerator of misery with colossal riffs capable of bending steel, a devastating rhythm section, and vocals that reduce everything to ashes.
Instead of reinventing the wheel, the quartet has sharpened their proposal. Each member has poured their own darkness into the studio to turn the recording into a collective collapse. Jarret digs deeper than ever, transforming the album into a sonic beating and a personal exorcism:
«We didn’t reinvent anything. We sharpened, hardened, turned up the volume… and wrote some of the darkest, most meaningful lyrics we’ve ever done. I dove into a place of furious hatred and pain: self-inflicted trauma and trauma toward others, self-destruction, addictions, and the hatred that leads to ruin.»
Currently, the band has two active singles, «OCI (Obsessive Compulsive Imploder)» and «Decontribute»,while preparing the premiere of a music video for «Downgrade» ahead of the album’s official release.
