Tras el renovado empuje internacional cosechado en torno a su aclamado álbum debut, «Distant Planets», la formación francesa de death metal moderno Breeding Chaos ha decidido rescatar de las sombras uno de los temas más infravalorados de su discografía. Publicado originalmente en la primavera de 2025 como un single independiente, el tema “Legion of the Dead” pasó injustamente desapercibido en su día, un destino que la banda se dispone a corregir.
Si bien «Distant Planets» cimentó la identidad del grupo a través de enormes riffs, dinámicas controladas y un concepto lírico anclado en la astrofísica y los fenómenos interestelares, “Legion of the Dead” trasciende esa fórmula para llevarla un paso más allá.
El corte se define por tres premisas inquebrantables:
Densidad sónica y peso colosal cargado de groove.
Una profunda y envolvente atmósfera.
Cero saturación de velocidad vacía, sin clichés manidos ni excesos innecesarios.
En el plano estilístico, Breeding Chaos ha forjado un sonido propio que bascula sin red entre la disciplina melódica de tótems de Gotemburgo como Dark Tranquillity e In Flames y la precisión rítmica de los neerlandeses Textures, todo ello sustentado por una columna vertebral oscura y atmosférica que bebe de la ambición cósmica de Blood Incantation. El resultado es un death metal de estructura progresiva e intransigente en su pesadez.
Con la mirada ya puesta en el futuro, el grupo se encuentra actualmente inmerso en el desarrollo de su segundo álbum de estudio mientras consolida su presencia en los escenarios de Francia y el resto de Europa. Following the renewed international momentum gained surrounding their acclaimed debut album, «Distant Planets», French modern death metal outfit Breeding Chaos has decided to rescue one of the most underrated tracks in their discography from the shadows. Originally released in the spring of 2025 as a standalone single, the track “Legion of the Dead” unfairly slipped under the radar at the time a fate the band is now set to rectify.
While «Distant Planets» cemented the group’s identity through massive riffs, controlled dynamics, and a lyrical concept anchored in astrophysics and interstellar phenomena, “Legion of the Dead” transcends that formula to push it a step further.
The track is defined by three unyielding premises:
Sonic density and a colossal, groove-laden weight.
A deep, enveloping atmosphere.
Zero empty speed saturation, stripped of hackneyed cliches or unnecessary excesses.
Stylistically, Breeding Chaos has forged a signature sound that sways without a safety net between the melodic discipline of Gothenburg titans like Dark Tranquillity and In Flames and the rhythmic precision of Dutch pioneers Textures all underpinned by a dark, atmospheric backbone drawing from the cosmic ambition of Blood Incantation.
